BBB Customer Experience Record

(Prior to 20 August 2001)

Based on our standards, this company has an unsatisfactory business performance record with the Bureau. An unsatisfactory business performance report is given when a pattern in the company's customer complaints causes us concern, when the company does not respond to complaints, or when it fails to substantiate its advertising claims. Specifically, our records show that although the firm resolved most complaints, it failed to respond to some customer complaints brought to its attention by the Bureau. Some answered complaints remain unresolved in our files. The company generally responded to complaints by explaining delays, completing the work or transaction, and explaining its warranty provisions.

"Part 2 of our problem is that our house is basically STILL under construction. This is due to Richmond American’s inability to rectify material, workmanship and technical design flaws, in addition to the facilitation of the repairs, replacement of material, etc. in a timely manner and to our satisfaction. Our initial, as well as our 90-day walkthrough documents have not been completed, signed and agreed to by both parties. Richmond American continues to change their supervisors (we are working with the 4th construction/service supervisor), forcing us to re-explain/identify material, workmanship and technical design flaws, but also to regain agreements through them and their management repeatedly."

(Prior to 20 August 2001)

"My neighbors on each side moved in around the same time and are at least equally unhappy with Richmond American. They got our money, but now are not being responsive to the repair requests that were made prior to settlement."
